Episode 86: Touchstone Tarot with Kat Black

About Touchstone Tarot

Touchstone Tarot, a new deck by Kat Black, author of the popular and critically acclaimed Golden Tarot, is coming soon. The artwork used in the deck is digitally collaged composites from the artwork of the European Old Masters from the Renaissance and Baroque eras, with expressive and surprisingly modern looking faces to communicate the meanings of each card.

The name of the deck Touchstone Tarot - was chosen for it’s metaphorical meanings. Something small, that can be held in the hand… a tool used to assess if something is true… sounds just like the Tarot!

It’s creation was funded by a private benefactor, a Patron of the Arts who wishes to remain anonymous. This person’s generosity meant that the deck can be created just as Kat intended, without commercial pressure to make it yet another RWS clone. This is a limited edition of 500 decks and is 3″ x 4″.

$56.00 + S & H.

  1. Jennifer Says:

Thanks for another great episode Leisa! In spite of your warning regarding the sound quality, I thought the episode sounded pretty good and I was able to listen in my car while driving. Now I am even MORE excited to see the final product! :-)

  2. Leisa Says:

I’m glad you were able to listen to it. I actually cut about 45 minutes from the show. So I’d like to have her back when she is feeling better. I’m hoping to get a three way call with her patron.

  3. Bonnie Cehovet Says:

    Leisa:

What a great way to go - with the faces on the cards resembling actual people in the Tarot community! I thought that was so cool - combined with the thematic background of the cards, this is a real treat!

How often do we see someone stepping up to act as a patron, so that a project can actually be completed as the artist wishes! And then for it to go to publication, with the publishing company contacting the artist - and then for t he publishing company to agree to a private, limited edition printing! For all of these things to fall into place for the same project is absolutely amazing!

I am going to start doing frequent mailbox checks for this deck (which I ordered as soon as it became available)!

    Blessings,
    Bonnie

To Leisa, Kat, and the anonymous benefactor–

I just got my deck in the mail today, and the cards are simply gorgeous; I know I’ll enjoy reading with them for many years to come. My thanks to all involved for bringing this beautiful deck out!
