Robyn Tisch-Hollister & the Tarot of the Midnight Masquerade

Once upon a time, Fortuna, also known as Lady Luck, threw a masked ball for all the people she knew. Something wonderful and magical and mysterious will happen when the clock strikes Midnight.

Robyn created her first tarot at the young age of 11 and started reading professionally at 14. Robyn is a Freelance Artist, Actress, Writer, Designer, Psychic and Tarot Reader. She loves costume and theater and has been know to dress as a pirate. Robyn has created a number of Tarot Decks and Oracles including:

They all have very interesting stories which Robyn shares with us. The Minute Deck was born from a creative block while working on the Tarot of the Midnight Masquerade. Each card was drawn and colored in under 5 minutes. I’m impressed with how much Tarot Iconography Robyn has assimilated.

The theme of the Tarot of the Midnight Masquerade deck comes from her love of Mardi Gras and Carnival. She has been a costumer, mask-maker and puppet-maker for over 15 years. Each card depicts a scene of guests arriving, or other things that are happening during the course of the evening, leading up to Midnight.

The Blues in Tarot by Ginny Hunt

Tarot encompasses the wide range of human experience and emotion, and as such there are a number of cards where the blues are depicted, but the one I feel most singularly represents the emotional landscape of the blues is the Five of Cups. … To tell people to stop feeling their pain is insensitive at best. To try and move them along to a place where you would feel more comfortable being with them is usually the disguised motivation. Why don’t we just tell those slaves of long ago who first sang the blues to just look on the bright side, then? As I’ve said before, you can’t run from grief. It dogs your every step until you sit with it. It commands your attention, your full attention, for a time. A funny thing happens when we finally sit down with our grief, or the grief of someone you know. It passes more quickly than if we attempt to push it away too soon. What a marvelous, very high energy Pod Cast! The ladies, each in their own way, are entirely riviting!

Robyn - I am going to have to go take a look at your Midnight Masquerade deck! Well, I intend to look at all of your work, but I already know that I want this deck! I have said this to other Indie artists, and I will say the same to you: you need to charge what your deck is worth! The cost of independent works is reflective of the energy put into the project, and the scope of the project. IOW - people get what they pay for!
